Komets Battle Hard to the End (by Deborah Killin)
With a busy day ahead, the Kincardine Komets came out fighting.  Their 1st game against Team # 3 saw 3 goals scored by the opposition and a valiant fight back from the Komets saw Bailey Pierson sink 1 in the back of the net.

Refreshed after lunch the Komets were back on the ice ready for the next round. 40 secs in Cale Gibson had a near miss. 1st period saw the Komets and Krushers evenly matched. Despite excellent attempts from Noah Page and Noah McArthur on defence the Krushers put one past goalie Williams. Joanne Page made many determined tackles and shots on net. Williams made many excellent saves but the Krushers managed to get another 2 past him. Slightly disheartened the Komets began Period 3. Final score remained at Komets 0- Krushers 3.

Pumped and keen to play Reilly Colhoun had a near miss 1 minute into game 3 with Emily Killin just failing to sink the rebound. Team # 1 goalie, Rose Pande stopped a relentless bombardment of goal bound shots from the Komet players. Period 2 saw early shots from Caydence Gibson and Mitch Pyke, but the score remained at 0-0 as period 2 ended. By the 3rd period the crowd was on the edge of their seats with excitement. Jacob Sylvester and Gordy Reaume pushed hard to score and Williams showed his strength as a goalie. A breakaway in the 5th minute saw a goal for team # 1. With 90 seconds left on the clock the Komets pulled their keeper as a last effort to even the score but it wasn’t to be.

Each player understood the importance of the Year End Tournament and played their best performance of the season and none more so than Anika Luinstra. Way to go Komets!
