A Tie for the Komets
There was unstoppable action in the game today between Novice House League #1 and the Scotia Bank Kincardine Komets.

The game opened up with a shot on the Komets’ goalie, Nathan Williams, but it slid just wide of the net. A collective sigh of relief could be heard in the stands. Cale Gibson, with his smooth fast skating, had a breakaway (the first of several!) and almost scored. Mitchell Pyke successfully kept the puck from crossing the blue line but to no avail. Shortly afterwards, the Komets had their chance: Gordie Reaume brought the puck around the back of the net and Joanne Page knocked it in. It’s a goal!

In the second period, Pyke had a great shot on net which hit the post. Then, in a flurry of activity, Jacob Sylvester hit the puck to Page who fought to get the puck past Rose Pande. Page continued to pepper Pande with the rebound shots but could not find a way past her. Reaume got a hold of the puck and passed it off to Page who then sent it over to Sylvester who knocked it in the net. The crowd went wild! The Komets were now up two goals over LL1. Great offensive play by Reaume, Page and Sylvester.

The third period saw Reilly Colhoun skating hard with several great shots on net. Unfortunately, LL1 had a couple of great opportunities for goals. In the first, the puck slipped past Williams just after he knocked the puck off to the side. That rebound shot by LL1 brought the score up to 2-1 for the Komets. Pyke had another great shot on net before LL1 took control of the puck again and, out of seemingly nowhere, shot on Williams and sent the puck between his pads and into the back of the twine. The score was now evened up to 2-2. The buzzer sounded just after Page had another shot on net. The game ended with a tie of 2-2.

Great playing was seen by all. Caydence Gibson skated well and had her stick on the puck many times. Noah McArthur and Noah Page played very well on defence, keeping the puck in our zone and shooting it up to our forwards. Annika Luinstra has improved as well. Great job, Komets!
