KINCARDINE NOVICES WRAP UP VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON WITH ANOTHER TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP

On the weekend the Kincardine Home Hardware Novices travelled to Aylmer for there year end wrap up tournament.  The team played early Friday morning against Blenheim, a team the Kinucks had defeated in the Kincardine Regional Silver Stick tournament.  Blenheim was out for revenge and played the Kinucks very tough.  Wilson Shipp got the Kinucks on the board in the second on a set up from Jordan Beisel.  Blenheim would tie it up in the third period.  And these teams would exchange chances but neither goaltender would allow a goal, making the final score a 1-1 tie.

The Kincuks would have to put the day in at the hotel in London as game number two was Friday night at 6:45pm.  The Kinucks would play a team from Belmont, which didn't have far to travel for the match.  Leading scorer Jordan Moulton would have the Kinucks up a pair after two periods.  Assists went to Noah Swann, Owen Thorn, and Darcy Scott.  The Home Hardware Kinucks would hold on for a 2-1 victory.

Game three would be played Saturday afternoon against the Ilderton Jets, a team that was also undefeated heading into the opening face off.  The Kinucks would come out flat in this one, and se themselves down 3-0 early in the second period.  At the midway point of the game Jordan Beisel started the come back on a nice set up by Moulton.  Moulton's assist on this goal was his 200th point in novice rep hockey (two seasons), congratulations Moltzy!  Before the end of the second period the Kinucks would strike again on a goal from MacKenzie Beisel.  Assists were given to Jordan Beisel and Shipp.  Kincardine would complete the come back early in the third period on a beautiful goal off the stick of Shipp, the loan assist would go to Swann.  Once again the Kinucks would finish this game tied 3-3 and now due to tournament rules (points system) would advance to play Wallaceburg in the championship game Sunday morning at 7:15am.

It was obviously an early mornng for the team. The players, coaches, and fans were anxious to see how the Kinucks would do.  Kincardine was the defending champions of this tournament from exactly a year ago when they defeated a very strong Mount Forest team.  With the motivation to win back to back years the Kinucks came out strong.  Jordan Beisel would give the Kinucks the lead after one period.  Assists went to Moulton and Swann.  Midway through the second period  Jordan Beisel would score his second of the game on an awesome set up from Moulton.  Wallaceburg would pull to within one after two periods as the score was 2-1 for Kincardine.  Shipp would put this game on ice with just under a minute to go in the game.  Jordan Beisel would get the loan assist on the insurance marker.  The Home Hardware Kinucks had accomplished what they set out to do win the Aylmer tournament back to back years, and finish there season on a high note.

Congratulations to all players on a great season, and a wonderful final weekend.  Goaltenders Jared Petrie and Ryan Wheeler, The defence unit which included Darcy Scott, Jessica Anderson, Mitch Pyke and Noah Swann.  Up front the Kinucks were very talented with Jordan Moulton, Cody McLelland, Nolan MacKinnon, Jordan Beisel, Heidi Allen and Wilson Shipp.  Also very important contributors throughout the season were afflilate players MacKenzie Beisel and Owen Thorn.

The team will now attend the Kincardine Minor Hockey banquet in a couple weeks to finish off the tremendous 2011-2012 hockey season.
