Black & Blue - The Re-Match

Saturday February 1st saw the Black Attack facing Blue. It would be a daunting task to beat Blue as they have raced up the standings lately and seem unstoppable. The Black Attack have beaten Blue earlier in the season and would have to draw upon that experience and combine it with the great team work they have displayed lately in order to incur a positive result and a much needed 2 points in the race for supremacy in the Kincardine Novice House League. The first period saw the Black Attack jump out to a lead off the skills of Thomas Harmsworth and his superior puck handling ability. Black Attack maintained this lead for most of the period thanks to the net dominance of Aaron Urie. Sadly, the game would be tied in the final minute by Kole McCormick on a lightning fast end to end rush. Blue wasn't finished, as Alex Acquino made it a 2-1 lead as Black Attack were still reeling from the first goal. This would end the first period giving Coach Urie much to talk about to inspire the Black Attack moving forward.. Something must have clicked as the Black Attack came out strong in the second. Precision defending from Sophie Nanskaville and Jude Hodgins kept the game close throughout the second. The second period ended as it started, 2-1 showing the Blue team that the Black Attack wasn't going to lay down!!
The third period was tight again and it is clear that the novice house league is still anyones race. Charlie Hall Elwood notched a goal but it was Blue who came back with more answers. The game ended 6-2 but ultimately it was 3-2 until it seemed like the wind was just not there for Black Attack late in the third. It is quite amazing to see how this team has come together and are now playing for each other, as a team and having fun!!
