Kincardine Atom girls walk away with a tough loss and a shut out win over the weekend
The Kincardine Scotiabank Atom girls were in Tiverton Friday night taking on Lucknow.

Early in the first the girls set the tone with strong defensive plays.Elizabeth Casciano battled hard to keep the puck out of our zone, and then Dakota Christie-Wylds made a great pass to Ella Gratto giving Morgan Talbot a scoring chance.

At 2:11 left to go in the first Heidi Allen was on fire scoring two goals in twenty seconds. Lucknow’s # 7 answered back with a goal top shelf with only 25 seconds left in the first. 

The girls kept the pressure in the second with a goal from Emma Dixon and a quick pass from Ella Gratto to Morgan  Talbot gave Kincardine a 4-1 lead.  The girls fought hard but again Lucknow’s #7 struck back a minute later cutting the lead to 2.

The third saw some great scoring chances from Ella, Heidi and Morgan and great a defensive play from Gabby Legge. Lucknow’s number #7 was a powerhouse scoring 2 goals halfway through the third and another 2 in the final minute for a final of a 6-4 loss. Player of the game went to Heidi Allen for her great passing and determination. Heidi also had 2 goals.

Saturday brought The Kincardine Scotiabank Atom girls to Lions Head to face the predators.

The excitement started early with Ella Gratto winning the face off and with a quick pass to Elizabeth Casciano, battled hard to keep it in their zone.  With an two amazing passes from Taylor Carney, Heidi Allen and Dakota Christie-Wylds both scored to put the Kinucks up by 2.

Kennedy Urie shot hard to put the puck back in the predator’s zone giving Kinucks another scoring chance.  Mackenzie Kuntz had a huge defensive play at 1:31 denying the predators a shot on net. Then Heidi Allen found the back of the net again with an assist from Emma Dixon, giving the Kinucks a 3-0 lead heading into the second.

The second period was saw the kinucks showing off their strong team defence, only allowing 2 shots on net. The girls worked hard end to end protecting our zone and clearing the puck.

The predator’s goalie was tested early in the third with a quick goal from Dakota Christie-Wylds assisted by Ella Gratto  putting  the Kinucks up by 4.  Macara Brooks had a good offensive play, battling hard for the puck.

The Kinucks kept taking it to the net with more scoring chances from Ella Gratto and Elizabeth Casciano. With 0:01 left on the clock Heidi Allen scored again for the hat trick and a 5-0 final.  Player of the game went to Ella Gratto for her great skating and strong offensive plays. Ella also had an assist.
