Kincardine Midget girls have had a busy past week and a extremely short bench starting with 5 players missing, leaving 11 skaters and our goalie. Tuesday night went to Tiverton to play a provincial and league  game combine winning 4-1 . Then Wed night , traveled to Mt. Forest to play a league make-up game having only 10 skaters and Amber, the team took a early lead in the 1st period , then Mt Forest  started some body checking and Gracie Stewart had been checked into the boards, a 2 minute minor was given only and clearly was CFB , of course I was told they had the game under control as I tried to consult with the ref’s , several other rough play continued, finally with a 3-0 lead , read next page -------- Read More

Kincardine Kinuck’s - Montgomery Ford Midget “C” girls team start the playoff provincial play-down’s with a 3 game  weekend and a very short bench of 11 skaters and our goalie Amber Howald . The weather was at least good to travel this weekend as the team started this series up in Wiarton Friday night against likely a top ranked team, Bruce Peninsula Predators! The weather was at least good to travel this weekend despite hold cold it was. With a short bench there was no trouble for the players to keep warm and as Bruce Peninsula seemed to remember our game earlier in the season, wanted to even things up as the took it hard to Kincardine gaining a 2-1 lead after 2 periods. With 12 Midget “C” teams divided into 2 groups of six for a 3 game round robin type play with only 2 winners from each group advancing to semi finals Sunday. Well winning at least 2 of the 3 minimum would be the only way to get there and  the 17 ladies from Kincardine that competed tried their very best, just came up short in a few areas and some uncontrollable events that can change the outcome of any game !   Montgomery Ford Midget girls were able to play a game finally with all the past bad weather road closures and with the re arrangement of school exams made things tricky to arrange. Last Sunday Feb 2nd the girls met for a match with Upper Maitland in the D/C to play them in a make up game from league play. The team started out with a good lead going into the 3 rd period 4-2 lead, but it seemed the layoff and lack of hockey played from cancellations left our team with no stamina in the 3rd and with one of our defenseman Jenna Gade had to leave the game with a concussion , the Upper Maitland team brought a heavy 3rd period , which we ended losing the game 5-4 .
