TIM-BR MART Bantams Enjoy Roadtrip
Article written by Ron Sayle
Preseason has not been kind to the TIM-BR MART Bantams as the 0 and 3 record had indicated. With the rival Hanover team in the Tiverton fridge and the boys looking to get into the win column it was bound to be a good match. Tight checking and superb goaltending by Paul Boyadjian kept the score at zeros through the first period. The between periods speech by coach Catto had an energizing effect as the boys ramped up the forecheck which resulted in goals from Dallas Hewitt, Cody Bowes and Gerrit Satosek. To counteract the strong forecheck Hanover took a more physical approach to try and slow down the young TIM-BR MART chargers only to have a parade to the sin bin and resulting goals from Sam Gurbin (2), Brady Collins and Matt Baker. The support staff for the goals involved Jory Norman, Mitch Dickson, Nathan Fohkens, Michael Osadca, Thomas Elliot and Dylan Sayle. Final score TIM-BR MART bantams 9 Hanover 2
With the Preseason behind them it was time to get serious about the real season which kicked off in Mildmay Sunday afternoon. With the waterbottles still full and the bench not yet warmed up the boys found themselves facing a 2 goal deficit at the hands of a spirited Mildmay team with not two minutes expired on the game ticker. A strong speech from the coaching staff and a refocus on hard work resulted in a pretty one timer from Cody Bowes setup by Mitch Dickson and Dylan Sayle. By the second period the game had settled into a hard hitting affair which had a steady stream to the sin bin and the ref looking for a replacement to his overheated whistle. Strong forchecking , a balanced attack from all three lines and crisp passes from the defensive zone resulted in the boys charging back with a tip-in goal by Brady Collins from Dylan Sayle and Sam Gurbin to end the second frame. The pressure continued until the Dallas Hewitt put home the winner from Garrett Satosek and Sam Gurbin.
